Ride Like A Star

“There comes a time in your life when you are at your lowest. For me, it was trying to get back to being human after my motorcycle accidents. I remember the day I stood on the scale and saw my weight at 264 in Oct of 2015. That was the day that I decided I was going to change and became a healthier me.  I got a gym membership and started going to the gym after work everyday. I started doing 30 minutes of cardio until I built myself up to 2 hours of cardio. I cut back on drinking soda, limiting myself to one a week, if that. I tried to eat as healthy as I could. Some weeks I did fine, other weeks not so much and my choices would end up canceling out what I had done the week before. Even with the struggle of my diet, I went from 264 to 221 in a matter of 4 months. For the next three months, I was at a standstill and had plateau’d out. I would lose a little weight but end up gaining it right back. I knew my diet was the thing that was holding me back.”

“I had a friend from California tell me about a meal prepping company that she was using. My next thought was to go online and find one in Atlanta. After checking out a couple of different sites, and making a couple of phone calls, Fresh ‘N Fit is the company I went with. I didn’t want to cheat at all so for the first two weeks of August, I did the 7 day plan, 1,200 calories/day Healthy Mix menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I started at 215.3 lbs at the beginning of August. After just 2 weeks on the plan, I was already down to 205.2 lbs. Unfortunately during my third week, I missed ordering my meals, and received a smaller cancelled meal plan that was part of the paleo menu. I knew I had to stay on track by not eating bad for the majority of the week. I did well but not as well as I hoped I would. Today, I am still 205.8. The good thing is that I haven’t gained any. I am ready to get back on track and see how much I can lose.”

What a great turn out at 9AM!

Today, I honor all service men and women who have given their lives for our freedom. And thank you to all the veterans who served and all the active and reserve duty who continue to serve. I know freedom is not free and what you do is much appreciated.

Today, 45 of my friends and I at CrossFit Fayette celebrated Memorial Day morning with a hero WOD, known in the CrossFit community simply as “MURPH.” This is a grueling WOD of about an hour consisting of a 1 mile run, then 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 air squats, and is topped off with another 1 mile run.

 

After MURPH Byron-Me-DonEven though, I’ve lost a bunch of weight with Fresh ‘N Fit’s great tasting meal plans, I still need to scale movements, so I did MURPH on a boat. That’s right I rowed in lieu of running, and I scaled the pull-ups as well. Like Rich Froning no clock, I just finished. I did get beat by 73 year old Mr. Don Scott. He actually beat my friend Byron and I. I’m so proud of Don and how he attacks CrossFit at his age. Don, you are an inspiration.

#PJDropping100: 57lbs in 52 Days On Fresh ‘N Fit

I have a digital scale at home that has read “Errr” whenever I stepped on it for the last year or more, because I was too heavy for it to register my weight. That ended today, as my scale now registers my weight again! Yay, what a great feeling. My weight loss journey reached a threshold today – I passed the midway point. The Nutrition, Exercise, and Life Style Changes are working very well. I did change to Fresh N Fit’s “Low Carb” 1800 calorie beast mode meal plan, and I did add another CrossFit Fayette WOD each week, but have not added any additional life style changes, as I’m still drinking 1/2 my body weight in water and reading at least 10 minutes a day*. I’ll be making some modifications in the next 30 days, but that’s for a later post. That’s my recipe for success so far, what’s yours? Check out my latest update video:

And The Share Your Success Contest Winner is…

#PJDropping100: Weigh In Wednesday, Day 23

No Speak-See-Hear No Evil

Be like these guys: Don’t put anything in your mouth that’s not Fresh ‘N Fit. Don’t even look at other food, and don’t listen to people tempting you to cheat.

Okay, today was the third weigh in for #PJDropping100 and today’s result was .8 of a pound loss! I know it’s not much, but coming off Easter weekend and a busy work week so far, I actually thought I would gain weight this week. Especially because I didn’t get my walk in last night due to working late.

The good news is just under a pound loss keeps the streak of consecutive weight loss going, which is encouraging. My total weight loss is 35.2 pounds in 23 days.

I forgot to give a shout out to the great chef’s at Fresh ‘N Fit Cuisine last week, so I’ll do it now. The shrimp and grits last Thursday for dinner was so good. Thank you for being awesome. Doesn’t this look yummy? Well, it was!

 

Shrimp & GritsSince I’ve been fueling my success with Fresh ‘N Fit Cuisine, I’m noticing a similarity to CrossFit. No, really, CrossFit is constantly varied high intensity movements, which is one of the core essential elements that make it great. CrossFit keeps mixing it up with great WOD’s day after day. We’ll The last 23 days of getting my Fresh N Fit on, has been the same awesome experience. They mix up the menu so you never really eat the same thing. It’s great, I can wait to see what my next meal is. I remember the days where I ate the same thing every day for breakfast, and every other day for lunch…boring! Do you know anyone like that? I say, mix it up, and get your Healthy Mix on. You’ll be glad you did.

#PJDropping100: Reading, Day 14

 

Concussion Book CoverNUTRITION: Stays the same – full throttle with Fresh ‘N Fit Cuisine (Healthy Mix 1,800 Calories per day).
EXERCISE: Still stepping 10K a day plus 3 CrossFit WOD’s a week.
LIFESTYLE CHANGE: I’ve added reading a minimum of 10 minutes a day. Anytime of day is fine, but I’m choosing to read just before bed. Reading helps reduce stress and relaxes you. Believe it or not this helps you lose weight. I’m not talking about reading texts on your mobile device for FB posts, email, etc. I’m talking about reading a real book! Pick something just for you, something you will enjoy. Reading work related material doesn’t count. I’ve chosen “Concussion” by Jeanne Marie Laskas. Concussion was recently made into a movie with one of my favorite actors – Will Smith, which I have not seen. The book was given to me for my birthday. Being a former football player, I’m sure I’m going to love this read.
