Menu Spotlight: Healthy Mix


For the next few weeks, we wanted to get back to basics by breaking down each of our menus to show what they have to offer as well as their nutritional targets.

First up is one of our customers’ favorite: the Healthy Mix menu. This is our most traditional menu with a wide variety of local and regionally sourced lean meats, seafood and produce. This nutritionally balanced menu is pork free but with our a la carte options, you can add any meal of your choosing to your plan. Healthy Mix also can be ordered with No Beef or No Seafood meals. Don’t care for either of those? Then choose our No Beef AND No Seafood option!

Our Healthy Mix meals are low in sodium, cholesterol and fat.

Our Registered Dietitian balances the nutritional content of the meals by the week. This allows us to offer you some of your favorite meals that may be slightly higher in sodium, like the Grilled Cheese Panini with Tomato Soup and the Shrimp with organic Red Mule Farms grits, while keeping the weekly nutrition numbers in line with our targets.

You’ll discover that eating healthy doesn’t mean boring or that you have to deprive yourself of the comfort foods that you love. Our dietitian does all of the nutritional number crunching for you so all you have to do is sit back and enjoy our gourmet meals.

Healthy Mix’s nutritional targets for sodium for our 1,200 calorie plan (3 meals a day) is less than 1500mg per day. While the targets for our 1,800 calorie plan (3 meals a day) is less than 2,000 mg per day.

If you want to go even lower in sodium, try using our Custom menu option. This allows you to choose the meals with the lowest sodium to build your own personal menu.

By meeting the healthy eating guidelines of the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, this menu is perfect for individuals who want to lose weightmaintain weight and are concerned with eating healthy. Individuals with hypertensioncardiovascular disease and diabetes generally do well on this plan.

A Fresh ‘N Fit Start to 2017

A few months into the New Year, and I am well into the change in my health and fitness journey. While I have always been active and made working out a priority, I lacked in the nutritional department in properly fueling my body. I have always tended to under eat, especially after a workout. Whether it is from laziness, lack of time, or my inability to cook, I needed a solution for my lack of healthy eating.

Fresh ‘N Fit’s dinner plan has been the perfect solution for me. Since I workout primarily in the evenings, the dinner plan is perfect for me to come home to after a long day. The “Beast” plan contains 600 calories of a balanced, healthy, fresh meal. Each Fresh ‘N Fit meal is freshly prepared by the outstanding culinary team at the headquarters in Cumming, Georgia. The diversity of meals keeps me interested and I love how fresh the meals taste.

1. Time Maintenance: Fresh ‘N Fit meals are easy to heat, whether it be in the microwave or oven. I also am able to consume a full spectrum of vitamins and nutrients that differ everyday, and help me love a healthier and more vibrant life.

3. The MEALS Are GOOD: Unlike other meal plans I have used, the Fresh ‘N Fit Meals are delicious. The company does a fantastic job of crafting these meals and having the correct balance of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. I love knowing that my meals are FRESH! Since the meals are fresh and never frozen, you really get to enjoy the culinary craftsmanship and fantastic taste of each meal. When I am done heating up my meals, the meats and fish remain moist, while the vegetables hot and crisp. I never have to modify or add on any condiments to enhance the taste of my meal. Fresh ‘N Fit does a fantastic job of preparing a ready to eat, health, and delicious meal every time.

I am so excited to see how my body changes in appearance and how it feels as I continue to implement this meal plan into my everyday life. Soon I will be starting my soccer season with the semi professional soccer team Georgia Revolution, so how and when I fuel my body will become even more critical. The NPSL season can be extremely draining and hard to manage with a full time job. However, I know that I will be able to last and perform at the highest levels, while being fueled by such great meals.

4 Ways to Make Clean Eating A Way of Life

By now you are probably aware that the term, eat clean, has nothing to do with washing your food and has everything to do with eating in a way that promotes fat loss. While it may sound simple enough, it’s pretty challenging to stick with a clean eating plan. I suppose if it were easy then everyone would be lean and confident about their body. So what’s the secret to long-term, clean eating success? Here it is…

Eat-For-Fat-Loss Secret #1: Keep It Balanced

Many fat loss strategies encourage eating only from one category of food: soup, grapefruit, salad, chicken breast…While these foods may promote fat loss and reduce overall calorie intake, this way of eating sets you up for a fall. No one sticks with highly restrictive, one-food-only diets for very long, and you’re no exception. To make your clean eating plan last, keep your diet balanced with a range of healthy, real foods.

Eat-For-Fat-Loss #2: Don’t Put a Label On It

How many times have you uttered the words I’m on a diet? Ugh, just saying that puts one in the mood to cheat on said diet. If eating clean means you’re on a diet, then you’re not committed enough to make this a way of life. True fat loss success comes when clean eating is second nature, and not a temporarily imposed sentence.

Eat-For-Fat-Loss #3: Have Patience

Wouldn’t it be great if a week of clean eating could erase a decade worth of indulgences? But, alas, you didn’t gain that fat in a week, and you won’t lose it in a week either. Look for, and acknowledge, each and every small victory along the way to your long-term goal. Notice each pound, each inch and each pant size. These accomplishments build on one another until you reach your ultimate goal. Just remember that big changes take consistent, long-term effort. Be patient.

Eat-For-Fat-Loss #4: Have a Plan

This is the most important step in your clean eating quest, without it you’ll flounder around without direction and will likely find yourself starting into the bottom of a bowl of ice cream. Spend time writing out your do’s and don’t’s for your clean eating plan.

Clean Food: The Basics

What food should you consider clean? I’ll give you a hint: not foods that come packaged and processed. The healthiest, cleanest foods are ones that are wholesome and untouched…as nature intended. Whole fruits, vegetables, greens, nuts, seeds, eggs, seafood and lean meats. Stick with this list of natural foods and you’ll be eating very clean.

Steer clear of any food that has been manufactured, processed and packaged. These are most definitely not clean and will lead to pounds gained.

The 5 Results and Benefits That I Gained From Whole 30

my-whole30results-300x300I previously shared that this was my third time following the Whole 30 program – in a raw nutshell it’s a nutrition program that you follow for 30 days to ‘reset’ your body and let it heal and recover from the effects certain foods may be causing.  The only way to really know how certain foods impact you is to eliminate the groups that can have a negative impact on health and fitness.  Essentially, this meant for 30 days earlier this year, I had no sugar of any kind, no grains, no legumes, no dairy, and no alcohol.

My third time on this program was a charm.  Literally, I wasn’t counting down the days and wondering if I would make it to the end.  I knew I could do it and more importantly I WANTED to do it because the benefits are so worth it.

Result #1 – My Complexion!  I have battled adult acne my entire life.  I didn’t have it as a teenager but once I got to college – boom! And…it has lingered every since.  Since my dad passed in 2014 and my stress level increased my face exploded with breakouts.  I’d tried creams, pills, even dabbing my pimples with toothpaste!  Many doctors have told me it’s caused by my hormones.  Ok great…fix it!  People in the last few weeks (just the ones that feel they can) have been telling me how wonderful my complexion looks and I’ve been thrilled with the results.  Still some scarring but it’s fading and much easier to cover up a few battle scars with some BB Cream.

Result #2 – My Energy!  I’m talking good ol’ organic energy.  I was barely drinking coffee because it’s hard to want it without some Stevia drops – but I did drink tea.  I wouldn’t feel the energy crash at work late afternoon or feel like I had to hop in bed when I got home from work.

Result #3 – Quality Sleep!  This isn’t an area I really struggle with but I can tell you that I slept great and woke refreshed.

Result #4 – Weight Loss!  Since working with my fitness coaches, I really measure my progress by body fat % loss, instead of pounds lost, but I don’t have my start and end percentages for fat loss.  So I give you pound loss.  I lost a total of 6.4 lbs!  That’s a ton for 5’2” me in a month.

Result #5 – No belly bloat!  Particularly when I eat grains and dairy, my belly protrudes.  I’ve noticed as I add some of these foods back (sparingly!) that I can feel and see a difference.

Fresh ‘N Fit Fall Menu Highlights

Fresh N Fit CuisineFor many, Fall is a wonderful time of year. Leaves begin to change colors and temperatures start to cool down. We had a hot and humid summer here in Atlanta, so waking up to cooler breezes in the morning and lower temperatures during the day make for much more pleasant evenings. Fall is perfect for being outside. You can go for a run without fear of passing out from the heat and it’s not that cold yet so don’t have to completely bundle up.

Fall conjures up images of going for a walk on a path covered with falling leaves or wrapping yourself in a warm blanket while reading your favorite book. Of course, there’s the start of college football and the NFL, as well as the holidays associated with Fall that people love. Kids look forward to Halloween so they can dress up like their favorite character and get their fill of candy. Adults look forward to Thanksgiving to be around loved ones and enjoy sitting around a table eating.

Which brings me to the real reason most people look forward to Fall: the food. At Fresh ‘N Fit, we love this time of year for that very reason. Our chefs get to prepare some of their favorite hearty stews and soups while using seasonal produce, like apples and pumpkins.
